Emily Sutherlin- 12/6/24 The Changing of the Seasons

As the seasons change, so does my headspace; I long for the cold in the summer, and in winter, I long for the warmth. As I reflect on why I think the grass is always greener on the other side, I wonder if I will ever be content with what is right now without wanting it to be any other way. The desire and attachment I seem to hold cause me great suffering, for it is out of my control, the things that weigh my heart. But all the days grow colder; I get to cozy up with blankets in bed, relax by the fire, and drink hot coffee, and for some reason, it just tastes better when it is cold out. As the days get warmer, I get to be outside more, go on my adventures, travel, hike, and soak up the heat. As the seasons change, so do what I am grateful for. There are always blessings all around us if we choose to see them.
