Aria Huffman - Ecotherapy Source
For our annotated bibliography assignment I found a source about ecotherapy through the Paul and Rosemary Trible library database. Through this source written by Ambra Burls and Woody Caan, “Human Health And Nature Conservation: Ecotherapy Could Be Beneficial, But We Need More Robust Evidence.” the authors examine the field of ecotherapy, which emphasizes the therapeutic benefits of connecting with nature for both mental and physical health. I believe that by fully experiencing the natural world through its sights, sounds, and scents the human body is able to effectively regulate itself in a way it cannot when it is removed from the natural environment. This regulation helps us to feel more in line with our emotions, physical senses, and other bodily sensations. I strongly agree with the authors who believe in the physical and mental benefits of fully experiencing the natural world on a regular basis. I think that if more people had equitable access to the natural environment and its benefits then they would see vast improvements in both mental and physical health.
