Caitlin McClafferty- American Camino Chapter 5
In chapter 5 of American Camino Walking as Spiritual Practice on the Appalachian Trail Kip Redick talks about how the AT trail is a sacred place. For a long team, people have used it to go on a spiritual journey. It is different for everyone who goes to experience it. It makes a connection for the person and nature.
Kip Redick talks about how pilgrims used to go there for spiritual journeys to find the purpose of life. Now we go on the AT trail to connect to nature and have a spiritual journey through things like hiking and camping there.
People who experience a spiritual journey with nature are more likely to take care of it and care about it because of those experiences. People use nature to experience spiritual journeys, connection to the planet and people, and cultural connection.
