Caitlin McClafferty- American Camino Language & Environment

American Camino Walking as Spiritual Practice on the Appalachian Trail author talks about language, and the way humans see and interact with the environment are very intertwined.

Anthropomorphism is something that I think of for this topic. Instead of letting animals be in the wild, we take them and control those characteristics for what we want. Humans tend to see Kalos(beauty) in the wild and try to give them human characteristics.

Kip Redick expresses how language serves as a connector when humans are trying to connect with each other, and the experiences of the environment. He gives an example of humans using language to be connected to nature, and the journey humans have had on it. He brings up how it is how us humans connect ourselves with the land and nature.
