Caitlin McClafferty- Changing Our Habits

I find myself frequently asking myself why some people know that their habits contribute a lot to climate change, and continue not to change anything. A big factor is convenience. A lot of people are used to their own habits and what is “normal” and don't want to stray away from what they know. Even when people are given answers on how to be more sustainable, most people don't listen because they have not experienced a big negative affect first hand or feel like there's nothing they can do as individuals. I think this is because a lot of people are waiting for someone else to do something. Many people think “I am just one person and what I do won't make a big difference” but if everyone thought that then nothing would ever change.

Individuals doing their part and trying their best to have more sustainable habits adds up just like how individuals doing things to negatively impact the planet adds up. It was found that the best way to spread the word and want people to make a change is by being the example. It has been found to be far more effective to be an example and have sustainable habits rather than just tell people to change their lifestyle.
