Lyla Bouchard - American Camino Chapter 3, angles and magic
In chapter 3 of American Camino, the concept of the “Trail Angel” is discussed. Trail Angels are people who perform acts of kindness for hikers out of the goodness of their hearts. This chapter shares a few examples, such as a woman who left jugs of water up the trail and a woman opening her home to welcome hikers. I think the “angels” are incredible individuals who understand how challenging long-distance hiking can be. Their generosity is a reminder of how kind humans can be and I imagine their support must be very uplifting and a much-needed distraction for hikers facing the physical and mental strain of their journey.
