Lyla Bouchard - American Camino Chapter 5

In Chapter 5, the concept of liminal space is explored, particularly how hiking creates an environment for deep thought. This section discusses how hikers often lose track of time on the trail, and walking gives a rare opportunity to reflect and think freely. A quote from a hiker named Siren stood out to me. Siren compared the amount of thinking done on the trail to everyday life. Our busy schedules leave little time for reflection as our minds are distracted throughout the day. Personally, I feel that I think a lot during the day, but if I were hiking a trail with nothing to do but walk, it would be a nice, uninterrupted, deeper thinking. Walking the trail seems like a great opportunity to reflect.
