Lyla Bouchard - Outside reading: Prescribing a dose of nature
While issues like pollution and deforestation are common environmental discussions, the impact of nature on people’s mental and physical health are often overlooked. Spending time in nature has been shown to reduce stress, improve mood, and improve overall well-being. People who have used nature as therapy have reported feeling less stressed and experienced mood improvements, especially those struggling with depression. Even greener communities reported experiencing friendlier people and more social connections. Nature is powerful, a natural stress reliever, and offers an escape from daily pressures. Connecting with nature is good for our personal well-being and should be yet another reason to save the planet.
